India plans to manufacture mobile phones worth US$ 126 billion by 2025-26.
BSNL is a technology-oriented company and provides all types of telecom services namely telephone services on wireline, wireless local loop (WLL) and mobile, broadband, internet, leased circuits and long-distance telecom service. The company has been in the forefront of technology with 100% digital technology switching network. BSNL’s nation-wide telecommunications network covers all district headquarters, sub-divisional headquarters, Tehsil headquarters and almost all the block headquarters.
As of April 2019, it had about 29.63-million-line basic telephone capacity, 1.39 million WLL capacity, 114.62 million GSM capacity, 31,611 fixed exchanges, 1,46,172 GSM BTSs, 95 Satellite Stations, 8,49,990 route kilometre (RKm) of OFC, 2,548 RKm of microwave network.
BSNL has 84,268 BTSs of 2G technology, 62,683 Node-Bs of 3G technology and 8,638 e-Node-Bs of 4G technology. The 3G mobile facility has been rolled out in 6,283 cities / towns. BSNL has 5.51 lakh Wi-Fi (unique users) as on 31.05.2023. Total 3G+4G connections are 212.39 Lakh as on 31.05.2023.

In September 2023, BSNL Inaugurates Bharat Fibre OLTE To Improve Services in Bhubaneswar. BSNL is all set to bring homegrown 4G to 32 remote villages in Kothagudem, a city in Telangana. The villages should be near the surrounding area of the city. In May 2023, Tata Consultancy Services led consortium secured US$ 1.81 billion (Rs.15,000 crore) order from BSNL for nationwide 4G network deployment. In April 2023, Tejas Networks bags single largest deal of US$ 84.32 million (Rs. 696 crore) from BSNL for pan-India router network. In February 2023, a consortium led by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) reached the final stages of closure worth US$ 2.9 billion. In January 2023, according to the telecom minister Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw, BSNL to start its 5G services in 2024. |

In December 2022, BSNL aims to introduce 4G network in 45,180 villages across India. In April 2022, BSNL plans to install about 1.12 lakh towers across the country to make 4G a success. |

In September 2021, BSNL launched a new app for its customers to ease the process of bill payments and recharges. In February 2021, at the Kadma Telephone Exchange, a Command Centre for Network Operation (CCNO) was established to ensure synergy across Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL) various networks. |
