Agriculture Minister, Mr. Narendra Singh Tomar, in his written reply to the Lok Sabha informed that as of November 30, 2022, 1,260 mandis of 22 States and 3 UTs have been integrated with the e-NAM platform. Farmers use the platform to mandis spread across the nation, in fact, some of them are also using online bidding through the e-NAM platform.
e-NAM, which was launched in April 2016, is being implemented by Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), a central government agency, with the support of state governments. Since its inception, US$ 78 million (Rs 649.87 crores) has been released for the integration of mandis with the eNAM platform.
The purpose of creating e-NAM is to get the existing mandis on one common online platform as 'One Nation, One Market' for agricultural commodities in India. This would help the farmers obtain a transparent price discovery method and realize better remunerative prices for their produce.
