157 new medical colleges approved by PM Mr. Modi to ensure affordable treatment in India: Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya

Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi approved the setting up of 157 new medical colleges to make sure that the people of the country get affordable treatment, stated Union Health Minister Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya.

“PM approved 157 new medical colleges...seats for medical students almost doubled up...We worked with a overall approach to make sure people are given affordable treatment,” stated Mr. Mandaviya while addressing the media.

The Union Health Minister further acknowledged that the Government of India has set up 1,50,000 Ayushman health and wellness centres to offer affordable treatment of diseases like cancer, diabetes etc., and check-up at the primary level.

“For treatment of diseases like cancer, diabetes...and check-up at the primary level government took a decision to build 1,50,000 health and wellness centres. ~79,000 above have been unveiled in the country,” said Mr. Mandaviya.

He further stated that to ensure the accessibility of cost-effective medicine medicines, the Government of India established 8,000 Jan Aushadhi centres and >20 lakh people are availing benefits from such stores.

Mr. Mandaviya said that the Rs. 5,000 crore (US$ 667.06 million) Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission launched by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi will emphasis on preventative care. To fill in the gaps present in the existing health infrastructure, Rs. 64,000 crore (US$ 8.53 billion) will be spent on Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, Mr. Mandaviya added further.
