16 bills passed by the Parliament during April- November 2022

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA), which is an important link between the two Houses of Parliament and the Government, during April-November 2022 in the current fiscal year, passed 16 bills out of 52 bills at the 17th Lok Sabha and 257th Session of Rajya Sabha (Monsoon Session, 2022).

In the Budget Session 2022 of Parliament (January 31, 2022- April 7, 2022), a total of 11 bills were passed by both the Houses of Parliament out of the 13 bills being introduced. During the Monsoon Session 2022 of Parliament, 6 bills were introduced, and both Houses passed 5 bills.

The MoPA developed a National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), which is an end-to-end cloud-based digital solution for bringing all 39 Legislatures (Lok Sabha + Rajya Sabha + 31 Assemblies + six Councils) across the country including the two Houses of the Parliament on a single platform. This application has been developed to cater to various stakeholders like members, ministers, house secretariat personnel, etc. A new module ‘Digital Archive’ has also been developed for the management of the legacy data of respective Houses for the benefit of Members and citizens equally.

The Youth Parliament Program is run in order to strengthen the roots of democracy, inculcate healthy habits of discipline, and familiarize the students with the working and functioning of the Parliament of India. This program is held in two modes - Youth Parliament Competition (YPC), and Web-portal of the National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS).

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs also constitutes Consultative Committees of Members of Parliament and decides for holding their meetings during the session and inter session periods. A Special Campaign 2.0 was launched on Disposal of Pending Matters (SCPDM) from October 2-31, 2022, which was focused on the disposal of public grievances, references from the Members of Parliament, Parliament Assurances, cleanliness drive, disposal of scrap and weeding out of files/record management, etc.

Constitution Day, 2022 was celebrated on November 26, 2022, as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India and to honour and acknowledge the contribution of the founding fathers of the constitution.
