35.7 lakh vacancies were registered on National Career Service (NCS) in the year 2022-23

To transform the National Employment Service to offer a range of employment-related services like job matching, career counselling, vocational guidance, information on skill development courses, internships, etc., the Ministry of Labour and Employment is putting the National Career Service (NCS) Project into action as a Mission Mode Project. The services under NCS are available online which was dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister in 2015.

In 2022-23, the highest number of vacancies were registered under the NCS portal, since the launch of the portal in July, 2015 as about 35.7 lakh vacancies were registered by employers as against 13 lakh vacancies in 2021-22. A growth of 175% was witnessed in 2022-23 over the previous year in the vacancies on the NCS portal. In addition, 2022-23 also saw the highest active vacancies of more than 5.3 lakh on October 30, 2022.

All industries have seen an increase in job openings posted on NCS. In comparison to the 2.2 lakh openings in 2021-22, the finance and insurance industry experienced a tremendous surge of more than 800%, posting 20.8 lakh positions in 2022–23. The number of openings in the operations and support industry has also increased by 400%, from 76,000 in 2021-22 to 3.75 lakh in 2022-23. The number of openings in the industries of hotels, food service and catering, manufacturing, health, education, etc. greatly increased in 2022-23 compared to the previous year.

Moreover, the year 2022-23 also witnessed a milestone of registering more than 1 million employers since the launch of the portal. In 2022-23 alone, more than 8 lakh employers were registered.
