The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) conceived, constructed, and built the Vande Bharat Express, a semi-high-speed train, for a cost of Rs 100 crore (US$ 13.3 million). Rolling out 400 Vande Bharat Express trains will generate roughly Rs 40,000 crore (US$ 5.34 billion) in revenue, as well as jobs of around 15,000 and other advantages.

Currently there are 2 such trains running 6 days a week: Delhi to Varanasi and Delhi to Katra. The government plans to complete the entire project in 3 years and be test ready in April itself. Initially it is suggested by officials that only ICF should roll out to ensure the quality and avoid any technical issues. The supply chain will also have to gear up as only 20 trains are rolled out when 400 is the target.
