8 years of Modi government: A look at some of the big achievements

On May 30, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi's government completed its eighth year in power. The following are the top eight achievements during the second term so far:

  • On August 5, 2019, Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Amit Shah, introduced a Bill in Parliament to repeal Article 370 and bring Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh into the mainstream. The state was divided into two Union Territories: Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
  • Prime Minister Mr. Modi declared free rationing for the underprivileged part of society during the first phase of COVID. The scheme was then extended for another six months during the second wave, until March 2022. Every month, 80 crore people were given free rations under this scheme.
  • India so far has administered over 193 crore doses of the COVID vaccine.
  • Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is a national public health insurance fund of the Government of India that intends to offer low-income earners in India with free health insurance coverage. Over 22 crore people have signed up for the scheme.
  • The Modi government introduced the initiative to provide everyone with affordable housing in 2015. More than two crore individuals have been given homes under the scheme, according to data accessible till the end of March 2020.
