88,209 EVs were subsidized in Madhya Pradesh in FY26 Under the PM E-DRIVE scheme

A total of 94,277 electric vehicles (EVs) were deployed in Madhya Pradesh during FY26 under the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme, of which 88,209 EVs received incentives. The incentivised vehicles comprised 81,840 electric two-wheelers (e-2Ws) and 6,369 electric three-wheelers (e-3Ws). Among the districts, Indore recorded the highest number of incentivised EVs at 12,840, followed by Gwalior with 9,476 and Jabalpur with 7,913. Bhopal accounted for 6,622 incentivised EVs, while Chhindwara and Sagar recorded 2,683 and 2,685, respectively. No electric buses have been allocated to Madhya Pradesh under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme. The Ministry of Heavy Industries also clarified that the Central Government does not maintain details of the total quantum of demand incentives disbursed directly to vehicle purchasers and original equipment manufacturers operating delivery chains within the state.

The Government is implementing several schemes to accelerate electric mobility across India, including Madhya Pradesh. The PM E-DRIVE Scheme, notified in September 2024 with an outlay of Rs. 10,900 crore (US$ 1.23 billion), supports the incentivisation of approximately 28.30 lakh EVs, including e-2Ws, e-3Ws, e-trucks, e-buses and e-ambulances. The scheme also provides grants for upgrading testing agencies and has allocated Rs. 4,391 crore (US$ 496.89 million) for the deployment of 14,028 e-buses, of which 14,000 have been allocated, along with Rs. 2,000 crore (US$ 226.32 million) for EV public charging stations. Other measures include the FAME India Phase-II scheme, which supported approximately 16.72 lakh EVs and sanctioned 6,862 e-buses, the PLI Scheme for automobiles and auto components with an outlay of Rs. 25,938 crore (US$ 2.94 billion), and the PLI Scheme for Advanced Chemistry Cell battery storage with an outlay of Rs. 18,100 crore (US$ 2.05 billion).
