97 new ESI hospitals approved across country in last 10 years

The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) provides comprehensive medical care to Insured Persons (IPs) and their families through a network of 165 ESI hospitals and 1,590 dispensaries across India. Over the past decade, ESIC has approved 97 new hospitals to expand its reach. Additionally, the corporation has formed tie-up arrangements with public and private hospitals to offer cashless inpatient services where ESI facilities are unavailable. ESIC has also collaborated with Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY) to provide secondary and tertiary care to its beneficiaries through PMJAY-empanelled hospitals in areas with insufficient ESI services.

ESIC has increased the rates for Permanent Disablement Benefit (PDB) and Dependents' Benefits (DB) to enhance benefits further. A new scheme has been introduced to offer medical care, including Super Specialty Treatment (SST), for retired beneficiaries who contributed to ESIC but were no longer covered post-retirement. Other initiatives include an online platform for updating the details of IPs and their families and the voluntary adoption of Aadhaar-based authentication to provide social security benefits, including medical and cash benefits. An online portal has been launched to facilitate the submission of cash benefit claims under the ESI scheme to improve service delivery. These efforts reflect ESIC’s ongoing commitment to upgrading and expanding its services to serve its beneficiaries better.
