To maximize nutritional outcomes, POSHAN 2.0 has been approved by the Government, where the Anganwadi Services, Scheme for Adolescent Girls, and Poshan Abhiyan have been realigned and a sum of US$ 2.44 billion (Rs.20,263.07 crore) has been allocated for the current FY 2022-23. “Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0” is a judicious shift in mission to develop practices that nurture health, wellness, and immunity from malnutrition.
To achieve what has been intended, the efficiency of Anganwadi workers is the most important aspect of this scheme. For the same reason, workers are being imparted with a proper training related to supplementary nutrition guidelines, nutrition norms, food safety norms and practices, infant and young child feeding practices, use of growth monitoring devices, etc. They are also made aware of the scheme’s objectives, requirements of beneficiaries under the scheme, preparation of learning material, use of assessment cards, etc. The training curriculum has been developed in consultation with the faculty of the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) who are experts in the area of Child Development, Communication, Early Childhood Care and Education, Nutrition, Psychology, Sociology, Social work, etc.
The Ministry of Child and Development has issued guidelines that covered several aspects like quality assurance, roles and responsibilities of duty holders, integration of AYUSH concepts and monitoring through the ‘Poshan Tracker’, and others.
