India has surpassed 150 billion (15,011.82 crore) Aadhaar authentication transactions, marking a significant milestone for the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and the broader Aadhaar ecosystem. This achievement, recorded by the end of April 2025, underscores the widespread adoption of Aadhaar as a critical enabler for digital identity and service delivery. In April alone, approximately 210 crore authentication transactions were conducted, reflecting an 8% increase compared to the same month in 2024. Aadhaar authentication continues to support ease of living, effective welfare delivery, and voluntary access to services offered by various providers.
The Aadhaar-enabled e-Know Your Customer (e-KYC) service also saw robust growth, with 37.3 crore transactions in April 2025 — a 39.7% increase YoY. The cumulative number of e-KYC transactions was 2,393 crore as of April 30, 2025. Additionally, Aadhaar Face Authentication, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)I/Machine Learning (ML)-based solution developed in-house by UIDAI, has seen rising adoption. Around 14 crore face authentication transactions were recorded in April alone, showcasing the seamless and secure delivery of services to Aadhaar number holders. Over 100 entities across both public and private sectors are using this modality to enhance service delivery. These advancements collectively highlight Aadhaar's expanding role in India’s digital infrastructure and strengthening the digital economy.
