In a clear indicator of its increasing adoption and utility, Aadhaar number holders completed over 2,707 crore authentication transactions in 2024-25, with 247 crore transactions recorded in March alone. Aadhaar continues to be a pivotal enabler of India's digital economy, with its expanding role across sectors like banking, finance, telecom, and government services, facilitating the smooth delivery of benefits under various schemes. March 2025 saw 246.75 crore authentication transactions, surpassing the figures for last year and February 2025. Since its inception, the cumulative number of authentication transactions has exceeded 14,800 crore.
Aadhaar's Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML)-based Face Authentication solutions, developed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), have seen remarkable growth. More than 15 crore transactions were completed using this modality in March 2025, highlighting its growing adoption and seamless integration for Aadhaar number holders. Over 100 government and private sector entities now utilise face authentication to deliver services efficiently. Additionally, on April 21, 2025, UIDAI received the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration in the Innovation category for its Face Authentication solution. Aadhaar’s e-Know Your Customer (KYC) service enhances customer experiences across banking and non-banking financial services. In March 2025, e-KYC transactions increased by over 6%, reaching 44.63 crore. By March 31, 2025, the total number of e-KYC transactions had touched 2,356 crore, with 20 lakh new Aadhaar numbers generated and over 1.91 crore Aadhaar updates processed.
