Aatmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana benefitted over 60 lakh beneficiaries in pandemic: Labour Minister

The Aatmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana (ABRY), launched on 1st October, 2020, incentivized employers to restore employment that benefitted 60.13 Lakh beneficiaries during the pandemic, said Mr. Rameshwar Teli Minister of State for Labour & Employment. The Aatmanirbhar Bharat package introduced fiscal stimulus of more than US$ 326.95 billion (Rs. 27 lakh crores), making India self-reliant and creating more employment opportunities. Moreover, the Production Linked Scheme (PLI), with a budget of US$ 23.8 billion (Rs.1.97 lakh crores) had the potential of creating 60 lakh new jobs. Also, the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), placed 177,687 skilled candidates, and assisted 288,399 beneficiaries in setting individual or group micro-enterprises.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), government distributed collateral-free loans of up to 37.75 crore loans amounting US$ 254.53 billion (Rs 21.02 lakh crore). Due to the pandemic, Government also launched Prime Minister Street Vendor's Atma Nirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme to provide collateral free working capital loans to 37.95 lakh beneficiaries amounting to US$ 532.33 million (Rs 4,396.12 crore) to reignite their businesses. Lastly, the government has been injecting projects with huge investments and public expenditure to encourage employment generation. Also, according to the National Career Service (NCS) portal of Ministry of labour and employment, the number of vacancies noted during the last three years (from 2019-22) was 56.07 lakhs.
