Aatmanirbharta’ in Defence: 164 Positive Indigenisation List items, with import substitution value of US$ 99 million (Rs. 814 crore) have been successfully indigenised by DPSUs within stipulated timelines

The Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence (MoD), has announced that 164 Positive Indigenisation List (PIL) items with an import substitution value of US$ 99 million (Rs. 814 crore) that were to be indigenised by December, 2022 have achieved the target within the timelines. This is another step towards realising "Aatmanirbharta" in the defence sector.

The Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) have successfully indigenized these products either internally or through industry partners, including medium, small, and micro enterprises (MSMEs). The list of these locally produced goods, broken down by DPSU, may be seen on the Srijan Portal.

Line Replacement Units (LRUs), sub-systems, spare parts and Components for DPSUs are among the 4,666 items that the DDP has announced in four PILs (1st PIL-2,851, 2nd PIL-107, 3rd PIL-780, and 4th PIL-928).

It had previously announced the successful indigenization of 2,572 goods, with an import substitution value of US$ 213.6 million (Rs. 1,756 crore). The total number of indigenously produced goods from these DDP PILs as of right now, after the notice of these 164 more items, is 2,736, with an import substitution value of US$ 312.5 million (Rs. 2,570 crore).
