The first special campaign to reduce pendency and institutionalize Swachhta in the Central Ministries and Departments was organized by the Government from October 2-31, 2021.
Union Minister of State Science and Technology, Minister of State Earth Sciences, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh, in a reply asserted that over 6,154 Central government offices had participated in the campaign.
During the month-long campaign, over 12.01 lakh square feet across these 6,154 offices were cleared, and scrap disposal brought in US$ 7.6 million (Rs. 62.54 crores) of income. The respective offices used the reclaimed workspace for a variety of uses, including parking, a courtyard, a cafeteria, a library, and a meeting room, among others.
