About 20.23 lakh new workers were enrolled under the ESI Scheme in May 2023

The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) revealed that 20.23 lakh new employees were hired in May 2023 based on provisional payroll data.

In May 2023, about 24,886 new establishments were registered and brought under the social security umbrella of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation, thereby increasing coverage.

Data revealed that more jobs have been generated for the nation's youth as 9.40 lakh employees up to the age of 25 constitute the majority of new registrations or 47% of the total 20.23 lakh employees recruited during the month of May 2023.

Payroll data analysis by gender reveals that in May 2023, there were 3.96 lakh more female members than male members. According to the data, a total of 71 transgender employees were registered for the ESI Scheme in May 2023.
