Adani Energy Wins US$ 904 million Andhra Transmission Project

Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has secured an inter-state power transmission project worth Rs. 8,500 crore (US$ 904.26 million) in Andhra Pradesh to supply electricity to the proposed green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in the Visakhapatnam region. Awarded under the Government's Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework, the project is designed to meet an estimated 4,500 MW of power demand and is scheduled for completion within 30 months. The transmission network will also support the rising electricity requirements of the Pendurthi–Visakhapatnam corridor, where significant investments in data centres, artificial intelligence infrastructure and digital connectivity are being planned. The project will be implemented through the Special Purpose Vehicle, Vizag Power Transmission Limited, further strengthening Andhra Pradesh's clean energy ecosystem.
With this addition, AESL will expand its transmission infrastructure by 1,582 circuit kilometres (ckm) and 10,500 MVA of transformation capacity, increasing its overall network to 29,531 ckm and 1,33,675 MVA, reinforcing its position as India's largest private transmission company. The project is expected to provide the high-capacity transmission backbone required to support the growth of green hydrogen production, digital infrastructure and advanced manufacturing in the region. By strengthening grid reliability and facilitating the integration of clean energy, the investment will contribute to India's energy transition, enhance industrial competitiveness and support the country's long-term sustainable infrastructure development.
