Adani Green Energy added over 5 GW of renewable energy capacity in FY26, taking its total operational portfolio to 19.3 GW, marking the highest greenfield annual capacity expansion globally by any company, excluding China. The new capacity addition includes 3.4 GW of solar, 0.7 GW (686 MW) of wind, and 1 GW of wind-solar hybrid capacity, reflecting a diversified clean energy build-out strategy. Most of the incremental capacity was commissioned at the Khavda renewable energy park in Gujarat, which is emerging as the world’s largest renewable energy plant. The milestone reinforces India’s rapid scale-up in utility-scale solar, wind and hybrid assets, while also strengthening execution confidence in large-format renewable infrastructure projects.

The fresh capacity is expected to offset 10 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually, while AGEL’s entire operational portfolio of 19.3 GW is expected to offset 36 million tonnes annually. At Khavda, AGEL has already installed 9.4 GW (9,413 MW) capacity out of a planned 30 GW capacity by 2029, highlighting strong progress towards what will be one of the most ambitious renewable energy projects globally. AGEL has also completed an initial 1,376 MWh capacity of battery energy storage systems (BESS) at the site within eight months of commencing work, which will help ensure grid stability and support renewable energy integration. The scale-up will help AGEL achieve its 50 GW renewable energy capacity target by 2030, while supporting India’s energy security and decarbonisation strategy.
