Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) secures the second position globally among solar PV developers, as revealed in the Annual Global Report by Mercom Capital Group. This clean energy communications and research firm compiled data from July 2022 to June 2023, highlighting AGEL's remarkable performance and contribution to the renewable energy sector. The rankings position France-based TotalEnergies at number one with a total capacity of 41.3 GW, followed closely by AGEL with its impressive 18.1 GW of total solar capacity. Canada-based Brookfield Renewable Partners secures the third position with 18 GW. AGEL's recognition underscores its significant role in the global solar energy landscape.
The top 10 global solar developers, contributing 145 GW to operational, under-construction, and PPA-contracted solar projects between July 2022 and June 2023, showcased significant industry impact. Of this, 49.5 GW were operational, 29.1 GW are under construction, and 66.2 GW are in the pipeline (PPA-contracted). AGEL secured the second position with an impressive 18.1 GW solar capacity. The list featured Enel Green Power, Lightsource bp, AES Renewables, EDF Renewables, Invenergy, Iberdrola, and ib vogt in descending order. Among the top 10, six were European, three were North American, and AGEL was the only South Asian representative. AGEL, India's largest renewable energy partner, currently operates 8.4 GW across 12 states. Chairman Gautam Adani reaffirmed a US$ 75 billion investment by 2030, envisioning 45 GW in renewable energy capacity and reinforcing AGEL's role in India's decarbonisation journey.
