The Adani Group plans to invest between Rs. 90,000 crore (US$ 9.50 billion) to Rs. 1 lakh crore (US$ 10.56 billion) across its airport portfolio over the next five years as it expands its presence in India's aviation sector. According to Mr. Jeet Adani, Director, Adani Airport Holdings, the investment programme remains on track and will support the group's long-term strategy of strengthening airport infrastructure and connectivity. The announcement coincided with the commencement of commercial flight operations at Adani Mundra Airport, which launched its inaugural scheduled services in partnership with Star Air, connecting the Kutch region with Mumbai and Goa. The airport's new terminal is expected to enhance regional connectivity and support economic activity by improving access for businesses, residents and visitors. The group also indicated its intention to actively participate in the Government's proposed bidding process for 11 new airports, reflecting confidence in the long-term growth potential of India's aviation market.

The launch of commercial operations at Mundra Airport is expected to unlock new opportunities for trade, tourism and regional development in Kutch. Initially, the airport will operate regional flights to Mumbai, Goa, Surat and Hindon, with Ahmedabad expected to be added in the future. The improved connectivity is expected to reduce travel time, facilitate business mobility and support tourism in the region. Mr. Jeet Adani noted that the airport's runway is capable of handling larger aircraft such as the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737, allowing for future expansion as passenger demand increases. The investment programme and the expansion of airport infrastructure are expected to strengthen India's aviation ecosystem, support regional connectivity objectives under the UDAN initiative and contribute to the country's broader infrastructure and economic development goals.
