Adperma Private Limited is expected to commence commercial production at its Rs. 6,000 crore (US$ 631.25 million) phenol and acetone manufacturing complex in Haldia, West Bengal, by the end of December 2026, according to a company official. Adperma is a wholly owned subsidiary of Haldia Petrochemicals Limited. The facility has an annual production capacity of 3.45 lakh tonnes of phenol and 2.15 lakh tonnes of acetone, according to the company. Inaugurated by West Bengal Chief Minister Mr. Suvendu Adhikari on October 14, 2026, the plant is described by the company as the only integrated phenol and acetone production complex on India’s east coast. The project is expected to strengthen domestic chemical manufacturing capacity and support the availability of key industrial raw materials.
Phenol and acetone are essential inputs for several downstream industries, including laminates, plywood, adhesives, resins, paints, pharmaceuticals and speciality chemicals. The Haldia facility is expected to support domestic manufacturers by improving the local availability of these chemicals and reducing reliance on imports. Its production capacity is expected to serve demand across multiple industrial segments that use phenol and acetone as raw materials. The commissioning of the complex also adds to Haldia’s role in India’s petrochemical and industrial manufacturing ecosystem. By establishing domestic production capacity for these chemicals, the project is expected to strengthen supply chains for downstream industries and support manufacturing activity in West Bengal. Commercial production is scheduled to begin by the end of December, marking the transition from project development to operational manufacturing.
