Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that India’s agricultural production has risen by 40% over the past decade, attributing the growth to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s policies and programmes. He highlighted that the agriculture sector registered a robust 5.4% growth rate in Q4 FY25 — a significant achievement, as even a 1–2% growth in agriculture is considered substantial globally. Speaking at events under the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan,’ he said India has set new records in wheat, paddy, soya bean, and groundnut production, and foodgrain stockpiles are full.
He added that India is not only self-sufficient but also exporting foodgrains, reflecting surplus capacity. He praised farmers and scientists for the record output and stressed the importance of food security, enhancing farmer income, improving access to nutritious food, and protecting soil health. As part of ongoing outreach efforts, he said 2,170 scientific teams are visiting villages nationwide to promote knowledge exchange between agricultural scientists and farmers.
