AI, cybersecurity to drive one million jobs by 2030: Quess IT Staffing report

Emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, cloud computing, and data science are poised to generate about one million jobs in India by 2030, according to Quess IT Staffing's 'Technology Skills Report, December 2024.' These technologies, along with blockchain and quantum computing, are transforming industries with innovative applications across sectors such as BFSI, healthcare, and retail. Strategic investments in upskilling the workforce will be key, as India's IT workforce is projected to grow from 5.4 million to 7.5 million by 2030, adding over two million jobs and contributing more than Rs. 12,82,350 crore (US$ 150 billion) to the country's economy.

The report highlights significant demand growth for skills like blockchain, with roles increasing by 60% in India between 2021 and 2023, and cloud computing, which saw global hiring rise by 30-35% YoY in 2023. Technologies like AI and ML are driving advancements in areas such as fraud detection, personalized medicine, and inventory management. Bengaluru remains the hub of tech hiring, contributing nearly 43.5% of demand, followed by Hyderabad and Pune, as India continues to solidify its position as a global technology leader.
