Air Cargo Operations Witness Nearly 40% Growth: Mr. K. Ram Mohan Naidu

Civil Aviation Minister Mr. K. Ram Mohan Naidu said that India’s air cargo operations have witnessed consistent growth over the past few years, with cargo volumes increasing by nearly 40%. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr. K. Ram Mohan Naidu said the Government is working to create global-standard air cargo hubs and facilities across the country, in line with Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s emphasis on expanding India’s logistics network. He also highlighted the partnership between FedEx and GMR Airport to establish a dedicated air cargo facility at Delhi airport, which is expected to strengthen the country’s air cargo infrastructure and logistics capabilities.

The Government’s focus on developing modern air cargo hubs and dedicated facilities is aimed at strengthening India’s logistics network and supporting the efficient movement of goods. On the Air India Phuket-Delhi flight incident, Mr. K. Ram Mohan Naidu said that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is conducting an investigation and that the preliminary report is expected soon. The incident occurred on August 4, when the Delhi-bound aircraft from Phuket experienced a sudden loss of altitude of approximately 300 feet during cruise. The Government’s continued focus on cargo infrastructure and logistics connectivity is expected to support the expansion of India’s aviation and air freight ecosystem.
