Akasa Air has established a strategic partnership with Noida International Airport (NIA) to build an aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at the new airport, which will be constructed in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. The facility will conduct various aircraft maintenance operations inside the airport area to enhance operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with stringent safety regulations. The airline will open its first MRO facility since launching operations in August 2022 to develop its maintenance operations because its fleet and network continue to grow. The development will help increase India’s aviation infrastructure capacity while providing maintenance support for the fast-growing aviation market.

The collaboration will enhance the domestic aviation ecosystem through its maintenance capacity improvements, which decrease the need for overseas service providers to maintain aircraft. The project will create job opportunities while it helps people develop technical skills, which will boost economic growth throughout the airport region. Industry stakeholders consider the expansion of domestic MRO infrastructure an important step in enhancing operational efficiency for airlines and supporting the long-term growth of the aviation sector. The initiative supports the Noida International Airport development plans, which the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh established as an aviation hub and MRO centre while India develops its self-sufficient aviation maintenance system.
