Amazon Global Selling to cross US$ 13 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports from India by 2024-end

Amazon announced that its e-commerce exports initiative, Amazon Global Selling, is set to exceed US$ 13 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports from India by the end of 2024. The company aims to reach US$ 20 billion in exports by the end of 2025. Over the past year, the number of Indian sellers on the platform has grown by 20%, bringing the total to 150,000 exporters who have sold over 400 million Indian products globally.

Director of Global Trade at Amazon India, Mr. Bhupen Wakankar, stated, “We’re investing significantly in tools and technologies to help sellers optimize their reach, enhance product discovery, and increase sales. The program’s success is reflected in the growing number of exporters building thriving businesses on Amazon’s global marketplaces.” Beauty is the fastest-growing category in Amazon Global Selling, with over 40% YoY growth, followed by apparel with over 35% growth. The United States, United Kingdom, and Canada are the top international markets for Indian sellers, with significant contributions from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Mexico. Notably, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra are the leading exporting states. At the same time, smaller cities like Anand in Gujarat and Gautam Buddha Nagar in Uttar Pradesh have achieved sales of US$ 89 million and US$ 47 million, respectively, in 2023. He also highlighted the importance of improving cross-border logistics and payments for small businesses engaged in e-commerce exports.
