Amazon announced that its Delivery Service Partner (DSP) programme in India will be revamped, with the e-commerce giant providing improved support to its partners in areas such as technology, hiring, and logistics. The new DSP programme has already gone live in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Brazil, and the Netherlands. Amazon has committed over US$ 1 billion in the initiative till date and has close to 2,500 partners around the world.

“We started the DSP programme in 2015, and we already have over 300 partners on board. Amazon is launching the revamped programme in India for the 11th time, with newer services such as assigning an account manager to the DSP partner and value-added tools for hiring, legal, and technological support” Mr. Akhil Saxena, Amazon's vice president of customer fulfilment (APAC, MENA, and LATAM).

The DSPs run a delivery network of 1,500 delivery stations in 750 cities across the country, allowing Amazon to reach out to isolated areas such as Nagaland, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and others.

Amazon has onboarded 40 partners under the new version and will continue to grow the project, he said.

“We aim to make it possible for prospective entrepreneurs to start and run their own delivery services, even if they have no prior expertise. Amazon's more than 20 years of operational experience, technology, and a suite of exclusively negotiated services and assets enable these small new company owners in delivering Amazon goods safely and successfully” he stated

New entrepreneurs will be able to establish their businesses with low initial costs and little working capital, allowing them to run their businesses smoothly, he added.

“The new offering will serve as an incubator, enabling rapid growth opportunities for aspiring logistics entrepreneurs, who will be able to create additional job opportunities and a great working environment for their associates while laying a strong foundation for their own entrepreneurial journey,” Mr. Saxena said.
