Ambuja Cements Limited has announced an investment of Rs. 14,500 crore (US$ 1.53 billion) to expand its cement manufacturing capacity to 155 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by FY30. The company currently has an installed capacity of 113.5 MTPA and expects to increase it to 119 MTPA by March 2027. The proposed expansion will strengthen its manufacturing presence across eastern, western and northern India, with additional capacity planned in Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. The investment comes amid rising demand for cement, supported by India's infrastructure development and housing requirements, prompting manufacturers to expand production capacity to meet anticipated consumption growth.

The planned capacity expansion is expected to strengthen Ambuja Cements' manufacturing footprint and improve its ability to serve key regional markets. Increasing production capacity to 155 MTPA by FY30 will support the company's growth plans while contributing to the expansion of India's cement industry. The investment also reflects the growing importance of capacity additions in meeting demand from infrastructure and housing projects across the country. The announcement follows the company's latest quarterly financial results, which reported a 34.7% decline in net profit, attributed to higher fuel and freight costs. Despite these cost pressures, the planned investment signals the company's continued focus on expanding its manufacturing capabilities and positioning itself to cater to future demand.
