Ancient science of Yoga is India’s invaluable gift to the world - Vice President

At an event organised by the Ministry of Tourism at Parade Ground in Secunderabad, Vice President Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu joined hundreds of other participants in celebrating International Yoga Day. During the session, the Vice President did Yoga and addressed the audience.

Mr. Naidu said in his speech that the ancient science of Yoga is India's priceless gift to the world, and that everyone should incorporate it into their everyday life to reap its advantages. He also stressed the importance of conducting further research into Yoga as a wellness solution.

Mr. Naidu explained that the meaning of Yoga is 'to join' or 'to unite,' and that it emphasises the unity and harmony between the mind and body, as well as between man and nature. "On this occasion, I would like to encourage everyone to work for societal unity and harmony."

The Vice President emphasised the need of drawing inspiration from our ancient philosophy and working to develop not only our brains and bodies, but also the nation as a whole. He defined 'Yoga' as 'Excellence in action,' quoting from the Gita, and wanted this to be the 'mantra' for every Indian to move the country forward. He also said that Yoga has no barrier of age, caste, religion and regions.
