APEDA Facilitates Commercial Export of Amrapali Mangoes from Jharkhand to Dubai

India has strengthened its agri-export ecosystem with the successful commercial export of 2 metric tonnes (MT) of Amrapali mangoes from the Aspirational District of Gumla and Aspirational Block of Deoghar in Jharkhand to Dubai. Facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the consignment was exported on July 3, 2026, by M/s Fair Exports (India) Private Limited for retail distribution across Lulu stores in Dubai. The premium-quality mangoes were sourced from three women-led Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) promoted by the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS). The orchards were developed by tribal women farmers under the Birsa Harit Gram Yojana, implemented in convergence with MGNREGA and supported by the Government of Jharkhand. The initiative demonstrates how coordinated efforts among APEDA, state authorities, district administrations and farmer collectives are expanding India's agricultural export footprint while empowering rural communities.

The export initiative delivered nearly 180% higher returns to members of the participating women-led FPCs compared to prevailing local market prices, significantly enhancing farm incomes. Collectively, the three FPCs have over 1,500 shareholders and represent more than 50,000 member farmers, extending the benefits of export-led growth to a large rural community. To build export readiness, APEDA conducted capacity-building programmes in Gumla during May 2026 on international quality standards, post-harvest handling and export procedures. Earlier, in September 2025, APEDA also organised an export-oriented capacity development programme for women entrepreneurs and Self-Help Groups in Deoghar, creating awareness about export opportunities, financial assistance and institutional support. The initiative highlights Jharkhand's growing horticulture export potential while reinforcing India's focus on inclusive, women-led and value-driven agricultural exports.
