APEDA Facilitates First-Ever Export of Mustard Honey by Dergang FPO from Tripura to Dubai

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the first-ever export of 1 metric tonne of mustard honey by Dergang Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) from Tripura to Dubai, marking a significant milestone for the state’s beekeeping and agricultural export ecosystem. The shipment opens new international market opportunities for local beekeepers and farmers while encouraging organised, quality-focused and export-oriented honey production. The initiative, supported by Salt Range Foods Pvt. Ltd., is expected to improve price realisation for farmers associated with the FPO and create additional income opportunities through access to international markets. The export also highlights the potential of FPO-led aggregation and industry collaboration in strengthening Tripura’s honey value chain and promoting value addition in agricultural products.
The development is expected to encourage more farmers and FPOs across Tripura and the wider North Eastern Region to explore agricultural export opportunities, improve product quality and participate in global value chains. Agriculture Minister Mr. Ratan Lal Nath highlighted the importance of the export for Tripura’s beekeepers and farmers and emphasised the state’s focus on strengthening apiculture, organic agriculture and market access for FPOs. APEDA continues to collaborate with State Governments, FPOs, exporters, processors and other stakeholders to facilitate agricultural exports from the North Eastern Region through market linkages, capacity building, quality assurance and export facilitation. The initiative is expected to strengthen Tripura’s presence in international markets for quality agricultural and organic products while supporting sustainable income opportunities for farming communities.
