Atomgrid, a full-stack speciality chemicals platform, has inaugurated a new research and development (R&D) centre in Bengaluru, aiming to capitalise on the growing global shift towards China-plus-one supply chains. The move reflects increasing demand from global customers seeking diversified sourcing options beyond China, particularly in the speciality chemicals segment. The newly established facility currently houses 15 scientists and researchers, with plans to expand to 25 over the next 12 months, highlighting the company’s focus on strengthening its innovation capabilities. The centre will support activities such as route scouting, process development and technology transfer for commercial-scale manufacturing, positioning Atomgrid as a solution provider combining innovation with execution.

The R&D centre will focus on developing proprietary processes for active ingredients and patented formulations tailored for global markets, with an emphasis on high-purity and cost-efficient chemical solutions. It is designed to cater to both regulated and non-regulated markets, aligning with evolving global demand patterns. The launch follows Atomgrid’s Rs. 65.38 crore (US$ 7 million) funding round, aimed at expanding its global footprint and enhancing research capabilities. The initiative is strategically significant as it underscores India’s emerging role as a preferred alternative manufacturing and innovation hub in the global chemicals value chain. The centre is expected to contribute to strengthening India’s position in speciality chemicals, supported by increasing global demand for diversified and resilient supply chains.
