India’s automobile industry recorded its strongest-ever performance for November 2025, with all major segments, passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers posting robust double-digit growth. Passenger vehicles led the charge with sales soaring nearly 19% year-on-year to 4,12,405 units, marking the highest tally ever for the month. The surge reflects sustained consumer appetite, improved production supplies, and strong festive demand. Three-wheelers also saw impressive growth, climbing 21.3% to 71,999 units, led by passenger carriers, which rose 24.6% to 59,446 units, while goods carriers grew 10.9%. Electric three-wheelers showed a mixed trend, with e-rickshaw volumes declining 25.6% but e-carts jumping 87.9%, highlighting a varied adoption pattern in last-mile electric mobility. Two-wheelers set a new benchmark for November, with sales up 21.2% to 19,44,475 units. Scooters posted the highest growth of 29.4%, reflecting strong urban demand, while motorcycles grew 17.5%, supported by rural and semi-urban markets. Mopeds were the only segment to dip slightly by 2.1%.
Looking ahead, the industry’s momentum appears set to continue into 2026, underpinned by favourable policy measures like the government’s GST 2.0 reforms, easing supply constraints, and a recovering consumer market. Mr. Rajesh Menon, Director General of SIAM, noted that progressive reforms and positive market sentiment are expected to sustain the growth trajectory. With record festive buying and strong domestic demand driving sales, India’s auto sector demonstrates its resilience and rising global competitiveness. This sustained performance reinforces the country’s position as a vibrant hub for automotive innovation and manufacturing, showcasing the sector’s role in driving economic growth and employment across the nation.
