Automobile retail sales in India increased 11% in September as stronger manufacturer supply allowed dealers to ratchet up client deliveries during the ongoing festival season, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). Total retail sales were 1,464,001 units last month, up from 1,319,647 units in September 2021.

According to FADA, October is projected to see significantly higher overall sales as the holiday season gains traction. Except for tractors and some three-wheeler trims, all other segments, including passenger and commercial vehicles, and two-wheelers, did better in September than the previous year.

Passenger vehicle retail sales jumped 10% last month to 260,556 units, up from 237,502 units in September 2021.
