Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the expansion of AWS Marketplace in India, enabling customers to purchase cloud-based software and services in Indian Rupees. The move allows India-based sellers, including Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and Consulting Partners, to list and sell their offerings locally while benefiting from simplified tax compliance and enhanced access to enterprise customers. The expansion is expected to boost the domestic cloud software ecosystem by creating a seamless platform for Indian sellers to scale their business.
With the rollout, major Indian software providers such as Cisco, CrowdStrike, Deloitte, eMudhra, Freshworks, Sarvam, Salesforce, and International Business Machines (IBM) can now transact directly in Indian Rupees. Globally, AWS Marketplace offers over 30,000 listings across more than 70 categories, including Security, Artificial Intelligence (AI), DevOps, and Data Analytics. The service is known to deliver a 377% return on investment by accelerating procurement cycles and reducing costs. The Vice President, Global Specialists & Partners, AWS, Ms. Ruba Borno, stated that the Marketplace will remove procurement friction through local currency transactions and simplified tax compliance, providing Indian customers with faster access to advanced technologies. Leading Indian enterprises such as Observe.AI, Swiggy, and Tata Consultancy Services already use AWS Marketplace to streamline procurement and drive innovation.
