India took a significant step towards strengthening its global leadership in traditional wellness and natural products with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AYUSHEXCIL and Spices Board of India in the presence of Union Minister Mr. Prataprao Jadhav. The partnership aims to promote global cooperation in Ayush products and medicinal spices by focusing on export promotion, quality assurance, standardisation, research, innovation and international market development for functional foods, nutraceuticals, herbal extracts and value-added Ayurvedic and spice-based products. Congratulating both organisations, the statement described the collaboration as a visionary initiative that would strengthen India’s traditional wellness systems and enhance the global integration of Ayurveda, medicinal plants and Indian spices. It further elaborated that Ayurveda and Indian spices have historically represented preventive healthcare, balanced living and natural wellness knowledge, adding that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment towards benefiting farmers, exporters, startups, MSMEs and global consumers.
The statement further emphasised that the collaboration would focus on quality enhancement, traceability, scientific validation, innovation, export promotion and expansion into international markets. Additionally, the statement noted that the proposed “Spice and Heal” initiative, stating that it has the potential to emerge as a strong branding campaign positioning India as a global leader in holistic healthcare and natural healing solutions. The partnership aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for Atmanirbhar Bharat, Vocal for Local, make in India and Heal in India, while supporting MSMEs, startups, women entrepreneurs, farmers and young innovators. The MoU, signed by AYUSHEXCIL Chairman Dr. Anurag Sharma and IAS, Secretary of the Spices Board of India Mr. M. S. Manivannan is expected to create new opportunities for export growth, rural development, employment generation and international collaboration, further strengthening India’s global visibility in the wellness economy.
