The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) has emerged as one of the world's largest digital health ecosystems, with more than 93.95 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs created, significantly strengthening India's digital public health infrastructure. Chairing the third meeting of the Mission Steering Group (MSG), Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mr. Jagat Prakash Nadda reviewed the mission's progress and outlined the roadmap for expanding citizen-centric, interoperable and technology-driven healthcare services. The mission has linked over 105 crore digital health records while registering 5.33 lakh health facilities and 9.85 lakh healthcare professionals on the national digital health registries. In addition, around 2.72 lakh healthcare facilities have adopted ABDM-enabled software, generating nearly 24 crore Scan & Register tokens to facilitate faster outpatient department (OPD) registration and secure, consent-based sharing of health information. These initiatives are improving healthcare accessibility, continuity of care and digital service delivery across the country.
The Mission Steering Group also reviewed progress in integrating ABDM with major government health programmes, including Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and Nikshay, while expanding implementation through Model Districts, Model Facilities and Aarogya Setu 2.0. Discussions focused on accelerating nationwide adoption by promoting digital health standards, improving interoperability, strengthening governance frameworks and leveraging emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence to enhance healthcare delivery. The Government reiterated its commitment to building a resilient, inclusive and future-ready digital health ecosystem through close collaboration with States and Union Territories. The continued expansion of ABDM is expected to improve healthcare efficiency, strengthen digital health infrastructure and support the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 by enabling seamless, secure and citizen-centric healthcare services across India.
