Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWC) have achieved a significant milestone in their mission to provide high-quality healthcare services close to people's homes. On April 26 and 27, 2022, a total of 3.5 lakh tele-consultations were registered through the Union Health Ministry's flagship telemedicine scheme, "eSanjeevani." This is the most teleconsultations ever done in a single day at AB-HWCs, exceeding the previous record of 3 lakhs teleconsultations per day. Furthermore, on the same dates, over 76 lakh patients used the eSanjeevaniOPD telemedicine services.
The e-Sanjeevani portal has facilitated access to healthcare services across the country, with over 1 lakh AB-HWCs already registered as spokes seeking consultation and more than 25,000 hubs conducting teleconsultations. The constant rise in tele-consultations for excellent healthcare is a significant step toward Antyodaya, where people in far-flung and isolated corners of the country can get high-quality, low-cost treatment.
eSanjeevani has two variants:
eSanjeevaniHWC is currently in use in over 80,000 Health & Wellness Centers. 2.70 lakh doctors were provided with general and specialised doctor-to-doctor telemedicine health services on each day (April 26 and 27).
