Global life sciences company Bayer has strengthened its “phygital” engagement model with Indian farmers as its FarmRise mobile application reached 5 million registered users across the country. The FarmRise platform forms part of Bayer’s broader Direct-to-Farmer (D2F) ecosystem, which combines digital services with on-ground agricultural support to improve farmer outreach, productivity and access to information. According to the company, the application provides agronomy advisory services, local weather updates, mandi prices, crop-specific recommendations and information on government schemes through a simplified multilingual interface. Bayer stated that the platform currently supports more than nine Indian languages and is designed to remain accessible even for first-time smartphone users in rural areas.
The company highlighted that the growing adoption of digital agriculture platforms is helping strengthen sustainable farming practices, improve market access and enhance financial inclusion for farmers. Bayer’s broader D2F ecosystem also includes services related to insurance, credit access and market linkages aimed at supporting end-to-end agricultural value chains. Industry experts noted that increasing integration of digital technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) and data-driven advisory systems is accelerating the transformation of India’s agriculture sector through precision farming and improved decision-making. The continued expansion of agri-tech platforms such as FarmRise aligns with India’s broader objective of promoting technology-led agricultural growth, rural digital inclusion and sustainable farming ecosystems.
