Biocon Limited has secured a 10-year supply contract for Pertuzumab in Brazil through a partnership with Brazilian public pharmaceutical laboratory Bahiafarma and biotechnology company Bionovis. The consortium has received 100% allocation under Brazil’s 10-year Productive Development Partnership (PDP) programme for Pertuzumab, a monoclonal antibody used in the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer. The agreement provides the consortium with exclusive access to Brazil’s public healthcare market, which accounts for approximately 70% of the country’s demand for the therapy. Under the arrangement, Biocon will receive milestone payments and a share of revenues generated through the Brazil PDP opportunity over the 10-year period.

The partnership represents a significant expansion of Biocon’s presence in the Brazilian pharmaceutical market and supports greater access to advanced cancer therapies. Pertuzumab is currently not manufactured locally in Brazil and represents a significant expenditure for the country’s Unified Health System (SUS). As part of the PDP framework, the product will undergo phased localisation in Brazil over the medium to long term, supporting the development of local biopharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities. The collaboration brings together Biocon’s expertise in biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing with Bahiafarma’s role in Brazil’s public healthcare ecosystem and Bionovis’ capabilities in complex biological medicines and biosimilars. The long-term agreement is expected to strengthen Biocon’s international footprint while contributing to improved access to high-quality cancer treatment and supporting Brazil’s efforts to build greater domestic capacity in advanced pharmaceutical production.
