Telecom companies' focus on broadband penetration is creating many new job opportunities despite muted growth in the overall telecom sector, according to recruitment firm TeamLease Services. Currently, the penetration of wired broadband in India stands at approximately 13%, a figure expected to increase as service providers shift their priorities towards broadband services over traditional mobility products to enhance Average Revenue Per User (ARPU). TeamLease projects an annual growth rate of 9-10% in the broadband market over the next few years, leading to the emergence of new job roles in sales, installation, network maintenance, and customer support.

Additionally, roles within network operations and maintenance teams, including fibre technicians and Network Operations Centre (NOC) personnel, are also experiencing growth. The average salary in the broadband sector has risen by 3.18% during the March-August 2023 period compared to the preceding six months, with the number of associates increasing by 47.10% in the same timeframe. The workforce in the broadband industry predominantly consists of individuals aged between 18 and 30, accounting for over 67% of associates. Data indicates that nearly 41.23% of associates hold a bachelor's degree, while 29.7% have completed their 12th standard.
