Budget 2023-24 presents the vision for Amrit Kaal, which is a blueprint for an empowered and inclusive economy

The Union Budget 2023-24 presented by Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs in the Parliament outlined the vision of Amrit Kaal which shall reflect an empowered and inclusive economy. A prosperous and inclusive India is envisioned, in which the fruits of development reach all regions and citizens, especially the youth, women, farmers, OBCs, scheduled castes, and scheduled tribes, she said.

She highlighted that the vision for Amrit Kaal includes a technology-driven and knowledge-based economy with strong public finances, and a robust financial sector. To achieve this, Jan Bhagidari through Sabka Saath Sabka Prayas is essential, she added. She noted that the economic agenda for achieving this vision would focus on three priorities- facilitating ample opportunities for citizens, especially the youth, to fulfil their aspirations; providing strong impetus to growth and job creation; and strengthening macro-economic stability.

The Budget 2023 identifies four transformative opportunities in order to service those focus areas in the country’s journey to India@100, which are Economic empowerment of women through self-help groups (SHGs), PM VIshwakarma Kaushal Samman (PM VIKAS), tourism promotion in mission mode, and green growth which helps in reducing the carbon intensity of the economy. This year’s Budget was the first budget in Amrit Kaal, which will be guided by seven priorities that complement each other and act as the ‘Saptarishi,’ which are- inclusive development, reaching the last mile, infrastructure, and investment, unleashing the potential, green growth, youth power, and financial sector.
