The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, has authorised the national roll-out of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), with a budget of Rs.1,600 crore (US$ 211.32 million) over five years. The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) will be implemented by the National Health Authority (NHA).
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is building a seamless online platform by providing a wide range of data, information, and infrastructure services, while ensuring the security, confidentiality, and privacy of health-related personal information, based on the foundations laid down by the Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, and Mobile (JAM) trinity and other government digital initiatives. Citizens will be able to create their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) numbers, which will be connected to their digital health information, under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
As of February 24, 2022, 17,33,69,087 Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts had been created, with 10,114 doctors and 17,319 health facilities registered in the Ayushman Bharat Data Management System (ABDM).
