Cabinet approves signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and United States for International Development/India (USAID/India) for supporting Indian Railways to achieve Mission Net Zero Carbon Emission

The Union Cabinet, presided over by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, was informed today about the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and the United States for International Development/India (USAID/India) on June 14, 2023. This agreement aims to support Indian Railways in achieving its Mission Net Zero Carbon Emission by the year 2030.

The MoU establishes a framework for Indian Railways to exchange information and insights within the railway sector. It facilitates collaboration on utility modernization, advanced energy solutions and systems, regional energy and market integration, private sector participation and engagement, and training sessions and workshops focused on specific technology areas such as Renewable Energy and energy efficiency. The primary aim is to foster knowledge sharing and interaction for the mutual benefit of both parties.
