The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) and the Competition Commission of India (CCI) was approved by the Union Cabinet, which was chaired by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.
The MoU aims to promote and strengthen cooperation in competition law and policy through the exchange of information, and sharing of best practices, along with various capacity-building initiatives. The MoU also seeks to establish and improve connections between CCI and ECA, as well as to learn from and emulate one another's approaches to applying competition law in their respective jurisdictions.
The MoU would give CCI the opportunity to imitate and learn from the experience and lessons of its counterpart competition agency in Egypt through the exchange of enforcement activities, which would help CCI enhance the enforcement of the Competition Act, 2002. The end results would benefit all consumers and advance inclusivity and equity.
