Car sales in November zoom to record high; Maruti, Hyundai post-double-digit growth

Carmakers have recorded a best-ever November as the sales of passenger vehicles rose by 31% year-on-year basis to 310,807 units. The better availability of semiconductors allowed carmakers to produce more.

India, the world’s fourth largest passenger vehicle market is on the verge to break through the sales of 2018, by ending the calendar year with the sale of approximately 3.8 million units.

Sales at Maruti including entry-level, compact and SUV segments, rose 20.6% year-on-year basis in November 2022 to 132,395 units in the domestic market. Whereas the sales at Hyundai Motor India jumped by 29.7% to 48,003 units. Besides, Tata Motor’s deals also jumped by 55% to 46,425 units. Toyota and Nissan motors can be considered as exceptions as they saw a volume decline of 9.4% and 9.5%, respectively.
