The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, launched the second edition of Scientific Innovation in Drug Development, Healthcare and Integration (SIDDHI) 2.0 in Vijayawada, positioning it as a national platform to strengthen industry research collaboration and accelerate evidence-based innovation in Ayurveda. Organised by the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Vijayawada, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the two-day conclave marked a strategic shift towards research-led product development, indigenous technology advancement, and faster translational pathways. During the inaugural session, CCRAS released the publication Evolution of Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani Drug Regulations in India, alongside the Drug Inventory Management System portal, reinforcing the focus on regulatory clarity and operational efficiency within the Ayurveda ecosystem.
Senior officials highlighted rising lifestyle diseases and the growing relevance of Ayurveda’s preventive and wellness approach, while underscoring the need for modernisation, quality assurance, and stronger industry engagement. CCRAS showcased validated formulations, research infrastructure, innovation programmes such as SPARK and SMART, and its industry-friendly Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) sharing framework. Industry leaders stressed the importance of upgrading traditional formulations for global competitiveness. With participation from over 100 delegates and more than 25 leading Ayurvedic pharmaceutical companies, the conclave facilitated dialogue on scaling research, synchronising education and manufacturing, and enhancing regulatory standards. SIDDHI 2.0 aims to drive wider adoption of CCRAS technologies, strengthen institutional linkages, and support the development of globally competitive Ayurvedic pharmaceuticals, advancing a modern, evidence-driven future for Ayurveda.
