The Ministry of Textiles has launched a nationwide exercise to support India’s goal of achieving Rs. 9.47 lakh crore (US$ 100 billion) in textile and apparel exports by 2030. The initiative brings together states, industry bodies and exporters through a two-day summit focused on strategies for key textile hubs, with discussions centred on technical textiles, man-made fibres, logistics, infrastructure, technology adoption and market access. The summit follows consultations across 36 states and Union Territories and nearly 200 districts, resulting in state and district export action plans aimed at strengthening India’s global textile trade presence. The exercise is also aligned with the government’s broader push for cooperative federalism and district-led export growth.

Union Minister for Textiles Mr. Giriraj Singh highlighted the importance of product diversification, value addition, branded products, sustainability, skilling and improved market access in achieving the national export target. The recommendations from the summit will feed into the National Textile Export Roadmap 2030, which is expected to serve as a framework for strengthening the textile value chain and improving export competitiveness. The initiative is being organised under the Cabinet Secretariat’s programme on Departmental Summits to deepen Centre-State collaboration and support India’s ambition to significantly scale up its presence in global textile markets.
