Coal Sector Created Substantial Employment Opportunities in Last 10 Years.

India's coal production has surged to an impressive 900 million metric tons, with projections exceeding 1 billion tons for the current financial year. This upswing, driven by escalating demand, supports essential infrastructure development and fuels substantial employment growth, especially in coal-rich regions. Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) such as Coal India Limited and NLC India Limited employ 369,053 individuals, including 128,236 contractual workers, with an additional support system for around 3.1 lakh pensioners. Recent recruitment initiatives by these entities, adding 5,711 and 661 personnel, respectively, in the ongoing financial year, underscore their commitment to bolstering employment opportunities and fostering inclusive growth in the coal sector. The sector's expansion directly provides employment and generates significant indirect opportunities, contributing to socio-economic development. As the coal sector continues to evolve, its unwavering dedication to sustainable livelihoods remains a key driver in transforming lives and fostering inclusive growth nationwide.
