Collaboration between India and Indonesia milestone for quality assurance in Traditional Medicine: Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav

On January 25, 2025, at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, India’s Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, and Indonesia’s President, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, witnessed the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, and the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority. The MoU focuses on Traditional Medicine Quality Assurance, marking a significant step in enhancing global standards for traditional medicine. Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, highlighted the collaboration’s potential to ensure traditional medicines' safety, efficacy, and quality, establishing a more scientifically regulated approach.

The strategic partnership aims to foster knowledge exchange capacity building and strengthen the role of traditional medicine in global healthcare. Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Mr. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, emphasised that this collaboration would promote technical visits, joint training programs, and the exchange of regulatory expertise. Both nations aim to expand cooperation in various areas and jointly participate in international events. The MoU represents a shared vision to elevate traditional medicine standards, ensuring its safety and accessibility and advancing its integration into modern healthcare systems. This historic MoU exchanged in the presence of both nations' leaders underscores the growing global recognition of traditional medicine’s importance in healthcare.
